Gregory is Co-owner and Chief Executive Officer of AlterNation. He is an urban planner, criminologist and former police officer, specializing in CPTED and urban safety. He is also a consultant in emotional intelligence training. He pioneered the SafeGrowth® model of community development, as well as problem based learning in law enforcement having codeveloped the PTO and PBL programs for the U.S. Department of Justice. He co-founded of the International CPTED Association and co-chairs the Police Society for Problem Based Learning. He has worked as a research professor at the University of New Haven and an adjunct associate professor at the University of Calgary. In spare moments you’ll find him jamming with his band Moosgh or hiking the Rocky Mountains outside Denver, Colorado.
Shelly is Co-owner and Board Member of Alternation. Shelly is an accomplished artist and a member of the Denver Art Society in Denver, Colorado. Her art appears in her studio at the Denver Art Society, and at other galleries in Colorado. She is a founding member of the Elm City Artists, a plein air painting group in New England. She has been manager of the Elm City Art Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut and the Basic Inquiry studio in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has extensive experience organizing and managing art groups and developing cultural activities in neighborhoods, such as the ArtWalk festival in New Haven. Her paintings have been shown in galleries in California, New England, and Canada. When not painting outdoors, she loves traveling to experience different cultures and explore new places around the world.
Mateja is a Senior Partner and Executive Director of AlterNation LLC and runs AlterNation Consulting in Europe. She is a certified SafeGrowth® Advocate and has co-taught SafeGrowth® and CPTED workshops in the United States, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Mateja is a criminologist currently completing doctoral research into the implementation of crime prevention through environmental design. She is the Executive Director of the International CPTED Association and serves as the coordinator of the ICA CPTED Certification Program. She worked with the planning department of the City of Saskatoon, Canada and conducted fear mapping in the city. She also worked with the Constitutional Court in Slovenia. She developed the AlterNation GPS-enabled, digital fear observation mobile app used to collect community-based information on fears and perceptions of crime.
